Christmas

This year we spent Christmas in St. George at my parent's new place. One of my brothers and his family were also able to be there. It was a little treacherous on the drive down but not to bad on the way back other than the pass was still closed so we had to go around the other way. One of the worst things that happened on the way down on the interstate was right around Orem area. We were in the lane right next to the carpool lane, the roads were slushy and it was snowing/raining still if I remember right and all of a sudden a semi-decided to cruise past us. He was in the carpool lane and through up a TON of slush onto the truck. Lance had to slam on his breaks because we couldn't see even with the wipers going at full speed. Where are the cops to pull somebody over when you need them to?! Anywho, it was tons of fun getting to spend time with some of our family! Abby was so funny around Ace. This is the first time she met him and she really enjoyed him from a distance but got a little worried when he started coming towards her. By the end of the week though she was use to him and enjoying him more and would pet him. We also had fun teaching her to "throw" the Frisbee for Ace and she learned how to tell him to "sit" and "wait" until she threw it. Ace got a little bored with the game of Abby throwing it after a while because it was more of a drop right in front of his face instead of a throw. :) My camera batteries were dead and so I have to wait for my family to send us pictures from the week (I stole the picture above from my SIL's blog). For my birthday we went swimming at the Rec Center there. They have a great pool with slides and climbing stuff for the kids. My favorite part was that the water was actually nice and warm! Since Lance's hand is still in his cast he got to sit on the side and watch. After I get some more pictures from the week I'll post those. It was pretty rainy most the time we were down there but that didn't stop Ace from loving running all over the red rocks and hills around my parents house. He turned into a red healer on his bottom side from all the dirt and mud he'd run through playing catch with Lance and my dad. :) One the way home we stopped to see Lance's brother and his family that are back the way for the holidays. I can't believe how big our little nephew Jaxson is getting! He's a cutie!! We definitely had an enjoyable Holiday. Here's a picture of Ace's present. I took these pictures before we left and my camera died. I made him a new bed with some soft flannel on the top and corduroy on the bottom. When we first put it down for him he was a little cautious sniffing it out and wouldn't walk on it. After we assured him with some coaxing that the bed was for him and he could lay on he just fell in love. When we're at home he now spends a lot of his resting time on it. This is just a side/underside view of the bed because my in-laws were wanting to see it.

The Verdict

So here's the before. It's kind of hard to see in a picture but if you compare his two hands you can see the left one is much more swollen around his middle knuckle. Here's the after. (That's how Lance decided to pose) Lance got an early Christmas present. I tried to get him to do pink or purple but he immediately said no. :) Anywho, turns out he has a small fracture (his first broken bone) on the knuckle so he got a pretty cast to keep it immobilized for the next couple weeks and then we'll go in for a follow-up x-ray. It was pretty cool to see the x-ray and I was pretty proud of ourselves because both Lance and I could see the small little fracture. After all is said and done Lance's response is, "This is still cheaper than if I had to fix the tailgate." So there's the words of Lance.

Lance's hand

So Wednesday afternoon Lance came home with a rather swollen left hand. Turns out he was in the process of moving our trailer (that Lance's uses for the lawn mower during the summer) over to his boss's house who was nice enough to say we could park it back by his horses. I was excited to have it off of the side of our house! In the process of trying to attach it to the back of the truck the trailer slipped (I'll have to ask Lance again what exactly happened). The trailer didn't stop very well... until it hit Lance's hand who was trying to stop it to protect his truck from a huge dent. So the tongue of the trailer hit the inside of his hand right around his middle finger knuckle. The top of said knuckle is still pretty swollen (I keep forgetting to take a picture but I'll post one later today). Lance can move all his fingers, it just hurts. It really hurts on the bottom side of his hand were the tongue hit but not so much on the top. Hopefully it's not broken!! I'm thinking since he can move it so well that it probably isn't but you never know with hands. I guess it could have shattered one of the tiny bones in the hand or something. Lance was just glad he had his heavy duty work gloves on when this happened or else we're sure it would've been much worse. So yesterday, since after waiting a day we concluded it would probably be smart to get it checked out just in case, I called the doctor's office and said get us in with who ever please! So Lance has an appointment later this afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, the truck is ok. :)

I know it's a busy time of year but c'mon?!

So I just got off the phone with a place I had ordered some things for my family from. I put the order in just over a week ago and it said it would take 2-3 days to process and then I paid for the 2 days shipping figuring that would give me some wiggle room before we're heading out of town. Online everyday it has continued to say "your order has been received and we are currently working on it." So I preceded to email the costumer service yesterday, getting a little worried, and got a computerized email sent back saying someone would contact me within 24 hrs about my request. So 24 hours came and went so I called them today. I waited on the phone for 24 minutes before Nick picked up. Before I get to the call I'd like to bring up a little more about the waiting. After a couple minuets I decided to switch on the speaker phone so I didn't have the incredibly annoying music blasting in my ear for the next who knows how long (I mean honestly, where do people get that music from?!? If I was trying to break in the music business I don't think I'd every sell/give my music to companies to play as there waiting music. That's got to be a guaranteed way to never sell any songs!) Anywho so I preceded to browse online, play some solitaire and spider solitaire to pass my growing frustrating time. I of course didn't want to hang up and loose my place in line so I kept just doing my thing and trying to block out the annoying whining in the background. At this point I'd like to say, I know it's busy time of year and it's got to be tough luck being in the selling and shipping business this time of year but don't make promises you can't keep! It makes people mad! The best part of this whole waiting was a couple words in a song brought me out of my dull staring for a moment. I thought, "did that song really say what I just thought it did?!!" Sure enough it did! The whining guy was saying over and over again, "How long can I waittttt (dragging out the wait part)?" I seriously raised up my eyebrow in a shocked manner and said, "are you kidding me?!" to my phone. I'm sure he was crying after some love of something but honestly is that the best song to have on a phone line while people are waiting 20+ minuets to talk to you?! Well so to get to the actual phone call, Nick picked up asked me the basic ya-de-da questions. He replied to my inquiry that he couldn't give me an exact date when my order would be shipped since it looked like it was pretty much done but that the vendor that has my order is just backed up in shipping right now. (Silence by me....) But to account for that he told me they are going to up the shipping to next level from whatever I ordered, so I guess that means I'll get overnight.....whenever it actually gets shipped. So I figured I'd ask if I could change the shipping address so it just gets sent to my parents. Nick replies, "Unfortunately we are unable to do that. (more silence) You could however cancel the order and reorder for the different address..." (Did he seriously just say that?!) I was trying to be very nice (Even though he was being very short with me) but I'm afraid my reply probably came out in that duh/dur kind of voice, "Yea but that would make it even longer of a wait." "Yea well..." (Yep, that's right your idea was an incredibly lame one) and more silence with me finally saying alright then and he gave his closing response and we parted our ways. I know it's not personally his fault but he does work for the company so a little "I'm sorry it's taken so much longer and that we're ruining the magnificent surprise present that you've planned for so long for you parents." That's all I was asking for a few answers and a little sympathy. (And before you wonder why I didn't order sooner there were some things that came up in life that I had to re-do the said gift and hence the delay in ordering it). So now that I've put to sleep those who are still actually reading....I'm done with my complaints now and feel a tad better...but not really because I still would just really like my order!

Past few weeks

So I realize I haven't posted in almost a month, sorry! We had kind of an extended Thanksgiving holiday. We started out in WY with Lance's family and had some yummy food and fun times. I don't have too many pictures (Jami, you need to send me the ones you got!) But I'm posting a couple with some of our nieces, nephews. The girls were able to make these cute Christmas countdown signs. I love always having fun projects that my MIL puts together for us! Here's mine but I still need to find some letter stickers I like to make the "days 'til" part on the tag. We were also able to see my family on our way down to our trip to Vegas and get a family picture which was good. So we won a trip to Las Vegas, Lance won from a drawing at a sporting good show at the beginning of the year. The hotel that was included ended up being the same one we had stayed at for our honeymoon which we liked because it's a very nice one but a few miles down from the strip so it's not so noisy! We went bowling there (we won't say who won both games) which was tons of fun! My favorite part is always the Bellagio fountains and gardens. The gardens while we were there consisted of backhoes and other large machinery....they were in the middle of re-doing it. I was sad about that. So we waited and waited out front to see the fountains and they never came on. So we figured well maybe they didn't start them until later. (These two pictures are of us waiting)We went to lunch at Planet Hollywood (had $40 for there from our package). The food was pretty good but over priced in our opinion, which was good that we didn't have to pay for it. Lance had the philly steak & cheese sandwich and I had the chicken avocado and swiss sandwich. I really liked mine but they were both about $14 which I think is kind of lame-o price for sandwiches but whatever, like I said we didn't have to pay for them. We even got dessert since we had money to use which we usually don't do. We both enjoyed the brownie with hot fudge and ice cream! Later that evening we went to the Cirque du Soleil show Mystere. It was very good and we both would recommend it! We got a great deal on tickets (thanks to my aunt and uncle for picking them up for us!) and were only four rows back. If you click on Mystere above it also will take you to the website where there's a trailer. After the show we had success in seeing the fountains!! I made Lance stay for an hour so I could see a few of them. By the end of our trip I think we saw 5 1/2 of them. It was fun because they had a couple set to Christmas Music. The next day we saw the Mac King Comedy magic show since the tickets were in our package also. It ended up being better than I expected. It was pretty funny and clean. After we went to In-N-Out Burger. Yummy!! I'd been before years ago but Lance never had so I decided to treat him to the experience. We both very much enjoyed our burgers! We were also able to meet up with my old roomie Kara & Clay and their adorable little boy Nixon (he has the funniest laugh in the world!) It was so great to see them because we haven't seen them since their reception a couple years ago. We also saw my aunt and uncle who live in Vegas and went to dinner with them which was very nice! They have 3 little dachshunds and Lance has never gotten to meet their pouches before. They were all fun to play with. They sure looked teeny tiny compared to Ace. We also made a trip up to the temple with my aunt right before we headed out of town. It was very nice to be able to get away for a bit and enjoy some time together. The drive home was really long since we had to make a stop in WY to pick up Ace (Lance's parents were great and watched him while we went to Vegas). Lance drove almost the entire way but I finished the last few hours to home. So that's a little of what we've been up to the last few weeks. Now we're back just working and I'm trying to get my house cleaned, Christmas decorations out and finish up on some Christmas gifts.

I felt the baby move first!

So as I thought of this title I realized this may cause some confusion so I'll just answer that question right off, no I'm not pregnant. Now I can go on to my story. We came up to IF for the weekend with my parents. I'm staying over a few days since I had a block of days not scheduled to work and figured what more could my mom want for her birthday from us than me!! :) Anywho, Saturday Lance and I went to pick my sis Lara up from their place and as soon as she walks out the door we first notice her growing bump. Last time I saw her she was only a month or so along and now she's starting to show. My little sis, tear, tear I'll put a picture up later when I get home. But now on to the title of this post, so since I'm her little nurse sister I first off decide to feel her growing bump to feel for the baby. I quickly found the spot where the little one was residing and I guess he/she wasn't use to being felt for and quickly squirmed away from my hand. Lara began having a crying moment as I was explaining the whole time what I was doing/finding and she runs into the house to tell Nate that she felt the baby move. I guess it was the first time she'd felt the baby move. I didn't know that. So the rest of the day we were telling everyone that I felt the baby move before Lara. :) Even though I explained to her she's probably felt him/her before but just didn't know that's what it was. So other times during the day I helped Lara to feel and be able to distinquish where the baby was. She's now all excited that she can tell were her baby is. So I guess the point of this post is Go Aunt Bekah!!! The baby knows you already! (We'll just ignore the part where he/she "ran away" from me.) :)

Halloween

So here's what Ace was doing earlier on Halloween, he was pretty tired. This is the first year since we've been married that we've actually had trick-or-treaters but we only got about 5 groups. Of those we only knew 2 of them, one were our across the street neighbor kids and then we had this cute little bumblebee show up on our door step too! I don't mind not having that many because lets face it, then I get to eat more of the candy! :) Lance and I stayed home and watched one of my all time favorite movies, Casper. Yea! I don't know about anybody else but when I was younger I had the hugest crush on Casper when he turned into a boy for a few minutes at the end of the movie and walked down the stairs....now he just looks really young. Anywho, we didn't dress up as anything because we're boring and we weren't going anyplace. However I did make a little costume for Acers, much to his dismay and embarrassment. Since one of his nicknames is "Bat Dog" due to his huge ears, I decided to make him some bat wings to go with them. I just cut them out of construction paper and stuck them on a head band. The whole time we left them on Ace he just looked at us like, "are you done yet?! what are you people doing to me now?!" and had this rolling his eyes at us kind of face. Here's the little bumblebee I mentioned earlier. She tired to steal all our candy! But her mean mom wouldn't let her eat it all, sheesh kandra! ;) Syd was pretty stinkin cute though! By far our best trick-or-treater we had! This picture catches her eyeing the candy right before she reached her hand in to grab a piece to hand to Kanrda to open. Then Kandra would put it back in the bucket, Syd would pout and cry for a second and then the process would start all over again. It was pretty funny!

Wyoming

So I haven't posted updates in a while so I'm trying to get a few of the things we've been up to put on here. I mentioned we were going to Wyoming to help my MIL at her super Saturday (I taught a class on making bows and headbands). The class went pretty good, drove me crazy that each class didn't have an assigned time assigned to them, that's what I was always use to at my home ward in IF. So I just had to keep repeating myself and I felt like I was going around in circles. Lynn, my MIL, said they'd always done that in Gooding too and that she tried to do it last year but nobody followed it. They're just different in WY what can I say, a little too laid back sometimes I think! But we had fun visiting with family. Lance enjoyed cuddling with a couple of the nieces. Syd and Kelsie love their Uncle Lance! I had a feel good me moment at the expense of my MIL (sorry Lynn, but she doesn't read these anyways...) :) but Lynn was holding Sydnee and Syd reached out to me. Ohh! She's loves me! It made me happy that she really does know who I am! I haven't really ever been able to live in the same town as my nieces and nephews when they're little so I've never had one really recognize me and want me. But that will all change soon since Kandra and Brandon will be moving (tear, tear for me but good for them). Kandra will just have to make sure Syd sees lots of pictures of me and I'll come visit a lot! The weekend we went was the one of the huge snowstorm but luckily we made it through the pass the few hours that it was open. There was a lay that I worked with that got to the pass, just past Tremonton, earlier that morning and they had to wait for 4 hours. Definitely a lesson to keep stuff in your car for such times. We got there at about 2:00 and only waited 20 mins because they opened the pass about that time. I guess the ended up closing it again later that evening due to drifting. But it was clear and sunny when we went through. The other eventful thing on the drive home involved Ace. Since it was cold we had him in the back seat of the truck and he mostly just rested and tried to prop his head in between my seat and some pillows. However only a few miles from home he had another one of his weak stomach moments. Lance turned around and saw him starting to heave so I grabbed his bowel that was there and shoved it under his mouth and managed to catch most of the nasty gunk. Oh how it stunk!! Since we were almost home we kept driving.....I have never been so happy to get home before!! I guess there was a reason for him looking out the front window, he was carsick. Who ever heard of a carsick dog?! But if there is such a thing, Ace would definitely be it! Luckily that which I didn't manage to get in the bowel landed on blankets and pillows which are all washable. Yea for washing machines!! Needless to say Ace spent the next few hours outside, just in case.

Ace is a year old

Ace turned 1 on Oct 13th (or at least to the best of our memory that's when he was born so that's what we're sticking with) The first video of him eating is when he was only 7 weeks old, right after we got him. He was so stinkin cute! What happened to him?! :) There's also a picture of him with Lance to see how tiny he is as compared to now. Yes, I realize I'm a dork and bought a birthday hat for him (if you can't tell it even has little puppy paws on it, I thought it was quite fitting). The main reason for getting it though was because I like to tease/annoy him and figured that putting something on his head would do just that. However he disappointed and didn't seem to mind to much even though he was pretty weary right after we put it on. Then he seemed to forget about it until Lance (being bored at Ace ignoring the hat) proceed to slide it down onto his mouth which at that point he produced the expected reaction and try to get it off. So since we all seem to put a few reasons down why we love the person (in this case dog) on birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I figured I'd put a few of the silly things down that Ace does (and for those who have spent much time with him know he does A LOT of silly things) So for those who don't care about our dog, we're not offended, you can stop reading this now but Ace does do some pretty strange things. 1. As you can see to a SMALL degree in this next video Ace absolutely LOVES going to "work" with dad. He really doesn't do any work but just enjoys the part of getting to play and wrestle with the other dogs (a couple of whom happens to be his sister and dad). Even though he does pretty much just play at work, he's learned enough that he knows when concrete is wet and that he can't walk across it, pretty smart! Anywho, Ace is a mess in the morning when Lance is getting ready. He's so excited. He won't leave Lance's side, especially when he get's his boots on because he know the time to leave is close. Ace starts wagging his tail and whining so bad he gets so frantic about going. The few mornings he's left home with me he's not too happy and spend the day moping and pouting. Hence is why I think he follows Lance around so he doesn't get "left." 2. Ace smiles at me and not Lance. He misses me more! :) That is right our dog smiles. It's the first time I've ever had a dog who smiled but I guess one of the dogs Lance had growing up did it too. The first time Ace did it, he frankly creeped me out because it's well kind of freaky looking. I tried to get a video of Ace blaring his smiling teeth at me but it's kind of hard to get because the times when he smiles is when they get home from work and Ace is sooo excited to see me (about the only time he seems to prefer me to Lance, and this only last for a few minuets and then he's back to mostly sticking by Lance's side). If you're ever over remind me and we'll try and get him to smile. (I apologize a head of time for me super annoyingly high voice but Ace really likes it) 3. While some people find this next thing gross (mom), I think it's kind of cute. Since our bathroom is tiny and gets steamy pretty fast even with the fan on, we leave the door open when it's just us at home. When ever either of us take a shower Ace peaks in the back of the curtain to check where we are and then proceeds to sit down and wait for us. Most of the time the curtain liner ends up on top of his head as he's turning to sit. I call it his Maid Marian moments. This picture doesn't really justify it but as most of you know, Ace has abnormally large ears that stick straight up, like a bat. The curtain covering them always reminds me of Disney's Robin Hood and Maid Marian in particular since her abnormally large, stick straight up ears are also covered in a similar fashion. (Fox ears, bat ears, both big) 4. This next thing I got a video of but it didn't turn out so well since it was outside in the dark. Our dog is a little crazy/dorky sometimes. I swear he runs after imaginary cats! When we let him out at night, he without fail proceeds to run to the two front corners of our fence softly gruffing (it's the cutest "pretending he's tough" noise he does) at the cats that most of the time aren't there. I think this habit started since the cats are frequently in those locations and he likes to the check things out to make sure everything is safe and sound. Sometimes he does it in the morning or at dusk so I'll have to try and get another video because it hilarious. The only other hard thing about trying to get a video of it is about the time he turns to run for the other corner he spies us watching him and stops to look at us (like we're the ones doing something crazy!) All in all Ace does some pretty funny things and definitely keeps us entertained. We're glad to have him (except when I'm not, I'll explain later)! He definitely has some great characteristics such as he absolutely LOVES kids and they love him which you can't train a dog to be this way. The only thing we (mostly me) hate about him is that he has the weakest stomach in the world (thanks a lot Red, his dad whom he gets it from). If he eats other dog food or who knows what else he pukes and it pretty much always turns out to be on my carpet. So if I ever catch you feeding him something that might make him sick, I'm bringing him over to your house! :) Luckily we've become pretty good at cleaning it up and finally have found a cleaning product that works great, to bad we didn't discover it early on in our house owning days. (Lance can't see the old spots but I can and it drives me crazy!) For those wondering the Resolve cleaning foam has worked great for us! So minus that last part he's a been a great dog and I really would miss him if something happened to him. Happy Birthday Acers!

Loved this movie

So there's a movie we checked out that I really liked! It's called Penelope. Has Christina Ricci, Reese Witherspoon, and James McAvoy. It's this creative fairy tale like film where Ricci's character is born (due to a family curse) with a pig nose and it's takes you through her trails of trying to find love. It made me laugh out loud and those who have been around me much know that I don't really laugh out loud much during movies. Lance even enjoyed it laughing out loud! So I recommend it. And the great part is, it's PG, and way cute and clean! The thing that makes this even better is that there's a a behind the scene look and scene from Twilight in the speacial features!!! I checked on youtube and the Twilight stuff is on there (click here). Got to love youtube!! I know I always look on there for everything. Oh and for those who haven't already seen it a new Twilight trailer came out a week ago, so much better than the other ones in my opinion! You can also find that on...guess where?!?! Right you are, youtube. Hope you enjoy!

Our very own couch

So about a month ago we came across a deal on a couch and chair with ottoman that we really liked. Our old couch was a hand-me-down with tons of stains and we've been looking for a while for something new of our own. These are super comfy and Lance even has his "man's chair." Seriously that's what we call it! I think I jokingly called it that in the store the first time he sat in it and it just stuck. Let me tell you about that first time he sat in it....he got this huge "love at first sight" grin on his face as he settled into it. I tried to contain my laughter (didn't work all the way) because he looked so small in that chair. It seemed to envelope him into it jaws. So from that moment I knew this was what Lance wanted and good thing I really liked them too. I'm not a huge fan of the pillows that came with them and while over the last month I've learned to tolerate them I'm always on the look out for a good deal on some replacement pillows when I find what I like (and I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for). So come stop by sometime and you can have a turn in "the man's chair." It really is quite comfortable! I would know, I steal it from Lance all the time! :)

Conference Weekend

This weekend we made the trek down to Utah for conference. Friday night Lane had his mission reunion. It's the second one we've been to but this was the first one with his mission president and his wife that he worked with a lot while he was in the office. It was nice to get to meet them. I met some of his companions, some who I remember from the previous one. One of their wife's had the cutest skirt, so should have asked were she got it from.... but I didn't think about it. Darn it me! :) They had the yummiest Chilean salsa, seriously the best I've ever had. Lance's other mission president's wife made it I believe, she's a native Chilean. It was also neat because Elder Cevallos from the seventy was there. Lance's mission president had actually given him a scout book when he was a little boy but then got transferred and never new what happened to him. Years later at a mission reunion a man came up and asked him if he remembered him. He didn't but long story short this man was the little boy he'd given the scout book too. Wow! Goes to show you just never know how your actions may affect someone else. It was fun for them because the mission house was just down the street from this Elder's house. The rest of the weekend was spent at Lance's grandparents house in Layton. Lance's parents were there so it was a nice little weekend with them all. I really enjoyed conference and I thought there were some great talks with some great quotes in them! I can't really remember them at the moment, one I worked before we drove down and was still recouping from that and two I recently woke up from working last night so my brain doesn't want to think too hard now anyways. Well I need to go get a few things done now for this coming weekend. I'm teaching a class at my MIL's Super Saturday, making some bows, so I need to make sure I have everything figured out so I actually sounds like I know what I'm doing, because I don't always feel that way! :)

Sorry for the lack of posting

So I realize I have things to post about such as the SYTYCD show but I haven't done it yet for a couple of reason. First of all, I need to get the pictures Kandra took on her camera because my little thing didn't zoom very well. Secondly, I have been crazy busy with work lately. We've had any where from 7-12 babies for about the last month and a half or so. It seems like as soon as one goes home lately there's another one that comes in shortly after. Most of them have been pretty little ones so they're in there for a while unlike the term kids who are sick and are usually in there only for a week or so. So I'm using work as my excuse to my lack of posting, take it or leave it. And don't expect me to be posting about the show or the other happenings in our life until maybe the end of this week since I'm pretty much working the next 6 nights. Like I said, very busy! Here's one of the not so good pictures from my camera, just so I feel like I've done something on here. :)

Upcoming Excitedness!

So I have stuff I need to post like we got a new couch but I just woke up and I'm always worthless and lazy during my block of nights I work. So you get to settle about hearing that I'm sooooo excited for this coming week! My SIL Kandra and I are taking a little girls trip to SLC (with Sydney of course) to go to the So You Think You Can Dance show in SLC. I've been a devote watcher of the show for the past 3 1/2 years or so and love it! I love dancing of all kinds, even though I'm not that good but a girl can dream right?! Lance actually likes the show a lot too which is kind of ironic since he insists he can't dance (I'm trying to work on that one still) :). Since it's on a weekday Lance can't go so I decided to invite Kandra to go with me since she likes the show too. We're so excited for our little girls trip and have some fun things planned. I really wanted to go to last years touring show but didn't and I'm glad things worked out this year for us to go. For those not familiar with the show, I love it because it's people who already know how to dance but they have to compete in all different kinds of genres that they may or may not have ever done before. The dancing show on ABC, that won't be named, annoys me, don't mean to offend those who like it but it does. At the end of the season it's not too bad but the people on the show can't dance! I know that's the point of it but it just hurts me to watch them! (Again I'm no expert dancers myself but still). So if you've never watched SYTYCD and enjoying dancing I would highly recommend watching it next spring on Fox. I'm so excited!!

Great Movie

So rather than doing something productive this morning, I spent it watching one of the movies I checked out from the library. I saw it when I was picking up some things I had on hold and it looked pretty good. I'm so glad I got it! So I just wanted to put a little post on here to recommend it. It's called Though None Go with Me. I learned after the fact that it's actually based on a book by Jerry Jenkins so now I'll have to go check the book out. (I go there way to often, as in I have my 14 digit library code memorized I use it so much and I know exactly when I can turn in stuff when it's overdue without actually having the computer dock on a late fee, but that's a different story) So this movie is definitely a chick flick that I wouldn't make Lance watch just because I don't want to hear his groans during the cheesy romantic stuff that I love. It's a Hallmark movie that's kind of along the lines of the Love Comes Softly Series and The Notebook (minus all the graphic not so necessary in my opinion love scenes). So go check it out!

FHE

So Lance has been wanting me to go golfing with him for a while now. And when I say "go golfing" that means he's golfing and I'm watching. (He has a tournament this weekend that his boss is sponsoring and he decided to put Lance on the team. I think this is part of the reason he has been going so much in the past couple of months to try and improve his skills.) Anywho, my extent of golfing consists of going to the driving range and getting tired of that after about 20 mins because my hands start hurting or something and miniature golfing which I know doesn't really count. I do have to admit thought I discovered Monday night a new love in the game of golf, driving the golf cart, especially when there are sprinklers around... So the first little while I really enjoyed watching him and we had fun talking and such. By the ~13th hole I was getting a little cold and hungry which some way must also have an impact on my maturity. It was around that time I took over all of the driving of the cart. Driving between holes I started looking for a "fun" little path with little hills to bounce over or trees to go between and such. Lance got a little tired of me weaving in and out of the trees and tried to steal control of the cart back from me. On our way to one hole there was a huge sprinkler on that was going to cross our pass (well cross it if I went out of the way just a tiny bit!) So I preceded to drive over to it enough that Lance would get wet and I would not. When Lance realized what I was doing, it was a little to late except to try and steer me in as well, so I got a little wet but not nearly as wet as he did. HEHEHE! :) He then pinched my wrist in protest (sheesh! how mature?!?) and told me he didn't deserve that. (I told him his mom and sisters would all agree that he deserved it!) The truth of the matter is, I know if he was driving he would have done the same thing to me, so he was just jealous he didn't think of it first! So as you could've guessed that was the highlight of my evening, having fun picking on Lancey a little! Lance's was making it in the 40's on the back 9. The only thing I didn't like is that they make you pay even for just a rider in the golf cart. But I guess with the way I was driving maybe the idea isn't totally unfair...

Labor Day Weekend

So this past weekend we decided to go to Lagoon since it was the last day to use our reduced price tickets from Deseret Book. We also had my mom's sisters that were visiting and we can never resist a chance to hang out with all of them! We just love them all so much! So this was the first time either of us have been to Lagoon since our senior years of HS. It was kind of funny as I was packing and deciding what to wear I realized I decided on the same capris that I wore to Lagoon last time I went. Well, they're great for such occasions because they have zipper pockets! Oh and in case you're wondering my shirt was different, however it was the same color. Yellow just looks so good with blue! :) We got their right before they opened the rights so we had to wait for a bit. We first went on one of their newer rides Wicked and wicked it was!! Let just say I've checked it off and don't need to go on it again. I've never been a huge roller coaster person, in fact I was absolutely terrified of them when I was little. I sort of got over that by a little bit of force when my family went to Magic Mountain when I was younger, I think it was when Mike had just got home from his mission. We were going around to all the rides pretty fast when we first got their before the lines got bad and when we go to the front of this line only then did I think to ask what kind of ride it was. I discovered it was a roller coaster that went upside down like 6 or 8 times. Instantly panic hit and I wanted to leave however my parents wouldn't let me go back and wait for them all and my dad essentially told me it'd be fine. HA!! (And mom don't pretend you don't remember being their because you were!) So needless to say as soon as we got to the first upside down loop my eyes instantly shut and didn't open until the end of the ride. On the picture they take of you during the ride my head was fiercely tucked down to my chest with my eyes closed. My family all thought it was a pretty funny picture. yea thanks! Anyways, back to Lagoon, so Wicked was truly wicked. After we went on a couple other including Colussus which goes upside down a couple of times. I was feeling like all my blood sugar had been run through in the past few seconds. So Lance sat on the bench with me for a while and then I decided I needed to go get some food from the car and sent him on some of the other rides I knew I didn't want to go on. I do have to say I really appreciate Lance for never making fun of me and being so caring even though I was such a baby! What a great guy! So I was feeling better after getting some food in my body and resting for a bit and took the next few rides a little easier. I've come to the conclusion that the incredibly fast speed roller coasters that drop you and ones that go upside down are just not for me. Ones like Spider, for those familiar with the park I really enjoy. Now I just have to remember my limits for the future. Yea for the Ferris Wheel! Always one of my favorite rides!! Lance and his amazing miniature golf skills. Lance has been picking up golfing lately and goes a few times a month. I was proud on one of the harder miniature golf holes I made it and he didn't because he gave up. It was one that had like a volcano type thing and the hole to make it in was up at the top. It was tricky! But I made it! Go me! Go me! And this picture is a close up of the previous picture that I'm posting just because I'm such a great wife! I was noticing his "follow through" face and couldn't help myself. :) I thought it was just a family trait from my side to stick your tongue out when concentrating?! Guess not! All in all (minus the part of me feeling sick) it was a great little date day for us!

Living Waters

This weekend was long and hot and I felt so dirty and stinky after all was said and done... but it was one of the best experiences of my life!! We had a dress rehearsal out at the fairgrounds Friday night and my mom was able to come down to see it. Thanks mom for coming to watch and taking some pictures for us! The stage was so amazing! They built the stage, laid down sawd, and even build a huge waterfall (since the theme was living waters). It was beautiful and I was really wishing I could have taken it home!! :) Saturday we were there all day and the youth did 2 dress rehearsals plus the performance in the evening. It was a busy long day! They youth did an absolutely amazing job!! Our dances turned out just as perfect as we could have asked for and the music by the choir was lovely too. Hopefully they'll be able to arrange another broadcast so the youth will be able to see it all. Because of copyrights and such they're having some troubles but hopefully they get it worked out. Lance and I managed to "sneak" away through out the day when our group was back in our holding area to see some of the other dances but it would be very nice to see the whole performance beginning to end. Lance's mom came Saturday night for the actual performance and took some great pictures that I know the you the youth in my ward will appreciate. Thanks for coming Lynn! This is the beginning number "Living Water" with all the youth from the 14 stakes. It was so amazing! The song was written specifically for this event and is a beautiful song! If you want to hear it, it's not the best recording, but you can go here Living Water Song these are a couple of the head YCC committee people demonstrating the opening and closing numbers so we all could learn them. I think "Carry On" is first and then "Living Water." Here are some of the Italian dancers. We were sooo proud of them all!!! They seriously made me cry they did so well!! And here would be the other half of our stake doing a Basque dance. Here are our youth waiting for the Scandinavian dance to finish (part of our international segment) before going on to polka. You can also see part of the choir in the background. Polka time! Closing number, "Carry On". Our stake is the navy blue. So if you are ever in church with me and "Carry On" is on the agenda, no my hands didn't turn crazy, I'm just doing the flag movements that have been ingrained in my head. I will never sing that song the same way again!

Decisions determine destiny

It was the most amazing experience being so close to the prophet this weekend! I know many of the youth were truly touched by the spirit and I was holding back tears many times during the night because it was just so amazing being in his presence and watching how it affected our youth to be able to perform for him! We were all out on the stage waiting for him to arrive. A couple golf carts came out and Pres Eyring, Elder Cook, and Elder Costas (from the Presiding Bishopbric, I believe) and their wives walked out on the stage and sat down. For half a second my heart sank because President Monson wasn't with them. However, I soon realized that in the program it had listed that he would be brought out last.(A view from our seats on the grass)

The fireside before hand was short but very nice. President Monson talked to the youth about how the decisions he made created a huge impact in his life, hence the title of the blog, his "three D's: decisions determine destiny." He talked about meeting his wife and his choses he made when going into the navy . He also left a blessing on the youth which was so amazing! I have always loved listening to President Monson. He has such a kind, caring, and sincere voice and I have always been mesmerized by his stories. I have felt truly blessed to have been given our assignment to help teach the dances to the youth in our stake . Having this experience to be out there with the youth, so close to the prophet and feel of his spirit and love has truly been one of the highlights of this whole assignment that I will never forget! What a great and unforgettable blessing it all has been! I really am sad that it is over because we have such amazing youth in our stake and I really am sad that I won't be seeing many of them again.Elder Nielsen let President Monson borrow his sun glasses. I thought it was pretty cute. I don't think I've ever seen him in sun glasses before. :)
