Babies, babies, babies
On Sunday we went to Lance's sister's house and met up with his other sister and one of our SILs and all their kiddos. We were so excited to meet our newest niece Kennadie. She is such a cutie! It was quite the entertainment trying to get pictures with them all. The three closest in age were still grabbing and close with each other. Much like the first time they were all together, when Carter was trying to stick his tongue in Bryn's ear. Great times. Poor little Kennadie looks so tiny compared to her cousins (crazy to think she'll eventually be in the same grade as Carter) and wasn't too excited about all the lovin' from her cousins...well mostly Carter.
Carter trying to grab Kennadie's bow.
Dawson, Bryn, and Carter chillin' together...while Carter is still trying really hard to get Kennadie's bow (we eventually moved it to the other side of her head).
Kennadie off in her own little corner, where it's probably safest. I love how Bryn is grabbing Dawson's ear!
Eventually they all ended up slouching into Kennadie, who was not too pleased by it.
Carter was trying to eat cousin Paige when she was holding him but I think she was enjoying his slobbery attention. Carter had lots of fun on their wood floors pushing and scooting around and managed to get himself tangled up in the chair legs a few times.
I didn't get a picture on my camera with the bigger kids too (hint, hint to my SILs) :)
Here are Carter, Dawson, and Bryn the first time they all met when Carter was only a couple weeks old. How they have grown!!

Toy Thief
On Saturday Kandra and her two kids stopped by to see us for a bit. You can definitely tell Dawson has a big sister because he is quite the toy thief! I think he was enjoying being able to take all the toys and not having someone bigger than him take them back. Carter wasn't sure what to think about it all. Every time he'd pick up a toy Dawson would grab it from him and Carter would just look at him with a confused look wondering what the heck he was doing. It was pretty funny! It will be interesting to see how they are with each other when the get older...
After Dawson took Carter's toy. Carter thinking, "what are you doing?!"
Carter deciding to try and fit back, to no avail I might add. Love Dawson's face, "I don't think so dude! I'm not letting go!"
And last but not least, best friends! I can't believe I got a picture with them both looking! It was an amazing accomplishment!

Another no go
Carter is still not a fan of solid foods. I know he'll get there eventually but somedays we wonder....
One of the reasons I started later on starting him on solids is that he just didn't seem interested. Apparently he's still not too interested in the food itself, although he does love playing with the spoon. So far we have tried rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, peas, and sweet potatoes (video above). All of them he just lets sit in his mouth and then tries to push it out or just wait for it to leak out of his mouth. He also tries to cough it out sometimes and does this fake gagging coughing thing. Silly boy!
Happy Birthday Lancey!

Spring Break
For Lance's spring break we went down to my parents in southern Utah. They and my sis and her little girl were there for the weekend and then Lance, Carter, and I stayed down longer. It was such a nice break and get away! It was also warm in the 70's most of the time, so what's not to love!?
We went on Carter's first hike. I've found a hiking backpack that I like but it's out of stock every where currently so we borrowed one from some friends. The hike started out a little overcast and ended up raining, hailing, and really windy. We raced back to the cars with both poor babies screaming and cold. A memorable first hike for him that is sure.
Carter loved playing with the toys at grandma and grandpa's house.
We tried the hike on a warmer day and Carter did much better. Although he started getting a little fussy on the way back. I think he was ready to be done.
We went and walked around the temple grounds one night. I realized it was the first time Carter has been on any temple grounds. When it warms up here we'll have to make sure to take him to our temple.
I love photo editing! This picture was taken from a rock, which I edited out and also was able to straighten the picture.
While we were there Carter really started sitting up good with only a few tumbles here and there. He has even started trying to pull his knees up under him but that usually launches his huge head forward. I'm not ready for him to start crawling yet!!
Hiking around some red rocks.
One of the times we were out hiking I put a little of my sisters sunblock on Carter's cheeks. The next day they were all red and rashy looking. Apparently he's allergic to sunblock. I figure we'll have to borrow some dabs of some of our friends that use different brands to put on his back or something to see if it's all sunblock or just the Copperton Waterbabies stuff.
On the way home we stopped by to see Lance's first and second cousin Tammy and her family (yes he is related to her on both sides of his family). I'm not sure what that makes Carter to her little boys..... Her youngest is only a couple months old and looked so tiny next to Carter. We discovered that when Carter is around littler babies he becomes the "bully." He tried to roll over him and stole his binky. (Tammy I need you to send me the pictures you took of them!)
We had such a fun trip but it was good to be back home, minus being back in the cold.

Who said grass was so fun?
We got back last night from a fun and relaxing week at my parents house in southern Utah. I have lots to post but for now here is a new first for Carter.
He did not like the grass at all! He cried every time we tried to put him down on it. A few days after this video we attempted again at the grass on the temple grounds and even left his socks on but apparently he could still feel the grass through his socks because he still just screamed. After we had picked him back up just looking at it started him crying. Poor little guy.

6 Month Stats
So Carter had his doctors appointment today and he did great! Only cried for a short minute during his shots and then when he had to get some blood drawn (he bruises pretty easily, just like his mama, so the doctor just wanted to make sure there wasn't an underlying problem for it). The rest of the time he was busy smiling and talking at the doctor, the nurse, and everyone who walked past. He would get a little confused when the people walking past him didn't stop and smile back at him. Here's his stats from the office:
One cool dude!
Love these pjs!
Love this shirt of his! I bought it with the clothes (too many cloths if you ask Lance) right after we found out we were having a boy.
So big and strong! He's started trying to push his knees up under him too. Looks like we need to start child proofing our house! We may have a crawler soon!
Oh one more thing, yesterday during sacrament meeting Carter decided to projectile puke all over me, my coat, himself, and the pew. Luckily I think he missed the lady sitting next to us and she was nice enough to help me get it kind of cleaned up while Lance took him out. After the meeting I cleaned it up a little better. Oh the joys! At least he wasn't facing back, I'm sure the people sitting behind us wouldn't have appreciated that!
- length: 26 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
- weight: 16 pounds, 10 oz (just below 50th), also less then what we had guess his weight to be on our scale here at home....I'll have to re-weigh him here at home when he wakes up from his nap, being cute for the doctor wears him out!
- head: 17 3/4 (75th)

Check your rubber duckies
So I was watching the today show this morning and there was a little bit of a startling story on bath toys and germs. I'd advise checking it out here.
Main point - they found E-Coli, Staph and all kinds of bacteria growing in and on the toys, especially the toys that squirt water out and have holes in them because the water can't drain out completely and sits inside and just grows yucky nasty stuff. Just thought I'd pass along the info to you all since most of us don't think about what could be inside bath toys.

Need some opinions
So we're looking for a hiking/carrying backpack for Carter but not sure what's a good one or where to find one. Anyone have one they like? Where did you get it? The ones I've seen online in stores are expensive. We'd appreciate your hints and advice.
Happen to anyone else?
So on Sunday Carter had a very full wet diaper. Not an unusual occurrence in our house. However this time was a little different. As I was stripping off his white onesie he had under his sweater I noticed it wasn't so white in the diaper area. Confused, I looked a little closer to discover that he had a blurry Mickey and Minnie Huggies diaper print on his onesie. To weird! He's had VERY wet diapers before but nothing that soaked through enough to apparently leak the colors onto his cloths. Luckily it was just a plain white onesie we put under things and after some stain stick and soaking it did come out. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? This was a first for me and I was a little surprised that it happened with a "top" diaper brand.

6 Months
- On our scale he weighs 17lbs! (His official 6 month doctors appointment is next week so we'll see what they say)
- Such a wiggle worm!
- Starting to keep most his rice cereal in his mouth after 5 or 6 tries but still makes faces at it
- He's our little tumbleweed, constantly rolling and moving around
- He's also our little billy goat. He always is sticking his burp cloth or clothing in his mouth and chewing on it
- Can almost sit up by himself but still needs a little finger support especially if he starts to wiggle - his big head topples him down
- Can stand holding himself up against his toy
- Doing great at going to bed around 7pm but still wakes up after 7 hours ready to eat and then every 3-4 after that
- Loves to laugh and smile
- Loves playing surprise games like peek-a-boo (they really make him laugh)
- Blue eyes remain and he still has blondish light brownish reddish hair.
- Not always so great with his naps. Some days has a couple of good long ones other days just cat naps but I have started at least putting him in his crib when he's acting tired and he has "quiet time" and that seems to help
- Loves dancing with mom and dad to music and listening to people singing songs
- Lately enjoys trying to stick his fingers up by our mouths when we're singing or talking to him
- Still has a mighty strong grip!
