Winter Wonderland
Here's our cute little puppy in the snow.
With our first big snow fall we decided to get Carter all dressed up and take him out to see what he thought of the fluffy white stuff. He wouldn't move in it. We set him down and he just stood there. We're thinking it was a combination of the boots which aren't the easiest shoes to walk in and the fact that he sunk into the ground. If we held his hand he would walk with us but did not want to try it on his own. Lance pushed us around the yard on a sled. Carter seemed to think that was fun. He also enjoyed watching Ace try to catch the snowballs Lance threw. Our dog is not always the brightest mutt when it comes to snowballs. Once they hit the ground he precedes to dig into the snow trying to find the disappearing snowball. I think our dog loves fetch a little too much and doesn't like it when he can't find what he's suppose to fetch.
After a while Carter's cheeks were getting a little cold so I brought him inside. He preceded to through a huge fit, trying to throw himself out of my arms all the while crying. This boy doesn't care how cold it is outside, he loves being outside! The next few minutes after I managed to get his and my snow stuff off, we spent looking out the front window until I managed to distract him with one of the inside toys.

Funny Story
Before the funny story here are a few pictures.
Carter loves being outside. With the cold weather it is a little more difficult. At least he likes watching Ace and dad when they're outside. He starts throwing a tantrum when we come inside or when someone goes outside without him or even when I can't keep standing by him at the window and put him back on the floor. It's going to be a long winter with him!
I thought this face was funny. Carter likes carrying dad's back scratcher around.
Another funny face!
Carter loves his silky blankets and likes carrying them around with him all over. He takes after mom that way. I loved my silky blanket when I was little.
Here is the funny story. We got back from getting grocery's the other day and Carter grabbed out one of the yogurts and was carrying it around with him while I was putting other things away. Carter use to hate yogurt! Would spit it out in disgust. Well a couple weeks ago when we were at my parents house Carter starting eating it, even saying "mmmm" after it. So, when he came back around the corner the yogurt was up tilted up like he was drinking it. Sure enough when I asked him what he was doing, he put the yogurt down and revealed yogurt all over his face. He had poked a few little holes in top of the yogurt lid with his teeth and was drinking it. After laughing a bit and telling Lance what he did I put him up in his chair so we could help him finish the yogurt.
In the picture below you can see his little teeth holes. The holes were actually bigger than just teeth pokes, so apparently he ate some of the lid too.
To think this boy use to hate yogurt and all things of like substance.

Climber
So this first picture isn't of Carter climbing anything. Just my two cute boys on Halloween both wearing their orange. As you can see in the picture, Carter has discovered his nose has the perfect size hole for his finger to fit into. Oh great!
If Carter's car is close to the chair, couch or ottoman he has figured out that when he stands on it he's close enough that he can climb up. Carter was so proud of himself sitting in the big chair. He wasn't very happy when I made him get down once he started kicking Lance's book off though. Luckily for me he still hasn't quite figured out that he can push his car to his desired destination to use it to climb up and over things. He's only done it when his car is already in front of the chair or ottoman. I'm really hoping it's a while still until he figures that out. I still like being able to cage him in a bit when I have to shower or something.
He was having lots of fun one day climbing on this tote in his room and getting into all of his things.
Doesn't that just look like one happy boy? He loves when he does something new.
One of his favorite things to climb on is still his car. You will also note "Carter's phone" in his hand. I told myself I'd never let my kid play with our cell phones and I still kind of kept that promise to myself. He gets Lance's old phone that's dead. It was just getting too hard to have a conversation with anyone because any time we were on the phone he was crying and trying to maul us to get the phone. Where do kids learn this from?! Only problem the past few days is that we haven't been able to find where he left "his" phone, as well as one of his shoes..... he's good at hiding things!
He's discovered the steering wheel makes a great seat.
Climbing with his snugly, tongue sticking out.
He loves his dog and loves giving him hugs and loves and climbing on him. Ace doesn't love it too much but has gotten much better standing Carter. He use to just run as soon as the toddling tot started making his way towards him. Now he'll let Carter sit on him and hug him for a while until it gets too much for him and he decides to make his break a way. Every once in a while when Ace is laying down and Carter comes up and starts sitting on him, Ace will push him off with one of his paws. On a side note, Carter apparently thinks 5 month olds are similar to Ace because he also tries to sit on my friends baby whenever he's around her and she's on the floor.
Carter enjoys sitting on the baseboard heater in the living room (we keep this one off) and has also learned he can stand up on it to reach things better on the little table.
I know I have a little boy, who loves to climb, explore, and be daring. Every time he gets up on something he grins and grins, so proud of his achievement and I hold my breath, hoping he doesn't fall and hurt himself. I can tell he's ready for these toddler years and dad is excited he can do more things with him now but I'm not so sure I'm ready for what lies ahead! It's exciting to see the new things he learns to do but some days I really miss my little babe, who would do just what I wanted him to do. I didn't have to worry about him falling or breaking anything or getting into things he's not suppose to. But I know it doesn't do any good wishing because he is getting more and more his own self every day and there's nothing I can do about it. So I just keep praying and gritting my teeth that he'll be safe and that his falls will only be small ones.
Busy Boy
Here is what we have been up to the last month or so... keeping an eye on our busy boy! Carter is walking all over like a pro, with a few stumbles now and again. He rarely crawls. He likes getting into everything and when something gets taken away he throws a fit. We kind of think his fits are cute because he turns on the water works in less than a second. We try not to laugh at him though. Hard to imagine this sweet face upset? Well believe me, it happens.
Carter learned to fold his arms for prayer. He just started doing it about 3 weeks ago. He only does it when he wants to though. Sometimes he'll do it as soon as we fold our arms or other times he waits until half way through the prayer. Sometimes we catch him doing it randomly when he's walking around the house. It's always just for a few seconds though and then he's done. He always has the biggest smile on his face when he does it. Do you think he gets a positive reaction from us or something?! :)
Carter is very ticklish and loves playing with dad. He's gotten to be more of a daddy's boy the last month. He'll sit with Lance and play with him for a lot longer than he use to. He also says dad a lot now and doesn't say mom hardly at all.
Carter still loves his bath time. When he's done he'll let me know because he starts trying to climb out of the tub. He's doing a good job about staying sitting down and only needs occasional reminders to sit back down, which he almost always does.
It's funny watching him when he's gets two sippy cups. He has to have a hold on both and switches which one he drinks from. This boy loves his milk!
Big smiles. I was trying to get a picture of on of his first bruises from falling, it's on his forehead up by his hair. But you can't really see it. His first big falls that left bruises happened at sitters houses. They felt really bad but we just figured it was just the beginning. It has been! Carter has had many more scrapes and bruises since he's become more adventurous. The other day Lance and I found one on his forehead that we have no idea how he got.
Carter loves carrying things around, especially things that are almost the same size as him. One of his favorites is Lance's water jug from work. Note the tongue, that is almost always sticking out with Carter when he's thinking or working. I think there are people on both sides of are family with that trait. I catch myself doing it sometimes at work when I'm not thinking about it.
Carter still loves riding, sitting, climbing, on his car. He also loves pulling blankets from their designated spots and dragging them around with him.
Blanket, Carter and plastic lids he managed to squeeze past the baby locks on the drawers.
The past month he has mastered the art of climbing in things, we're still working on the getting out part which sometime ends with some tears when he falls. One of his favorites is this cooler Lance takes to work. I think I'm noticing a pattern....I think he loves his daddy and his daddy's things.
Laying down on the blanket, which he had pulled off the shelf moments before,
Again, laying on the blanket. This particular day he discovered his feet can make a great noise banging on the cupboard. He had so much fun and was proud of himself.
Close up shot because I just loved his smile!
Cute boy on the move!
Our spaghetti face. Carter loves, loves pasta!!!

Halloween
Here is one of the cutest puppies I ever did see!! His costume turned out pretty good, not bad at all for my first Halloween costume. Whenever we put the hood part on Carter tried to pull it off at first but then seemed to give up. It was stuck. Every once in a while he would remember he had something stuck on his head and he'd try getting it off again.
We went to our ward Halloween party Friday night which was lots of fun. Carter wanted to walk around all the time. He got kidnapped part of the time by our Bishop's wife and his daughter, she watched Carter for us in the mornings when Lance had to leave to work and before I got home. She and Carter are buddies.
Trying to pull his hood off. He even cooperated and said "woof woof" for a few people.
Here is a back view, tail and all.
Saturday night I had to work but Lance took him to a few of our friends houses. He wasn't too interested in the candy and had more fun trying to sit on their dog or play. Our friend that watches him a lot for us knew just what Carter would like, she had a little bucket filled with some goodies for him including a soft fruit stick, which he enjoyed last night. We've tried giving him small pieces of a few things but he just pulls them out. I'm not going to complain because him not liking sweets favors my sweet tooth. So far the only "sweet" he seems to like is ice cream.
