Saving a chair

Last week in nursery when Lance picked Carter up, one of the nursery leaders shared a cute thing he did that day. Apparently near the end of class they were in their chairs. There was an empty chair next to Carter and when other kids would try to sit on it he would say in all seriousness while patting the chair, "No, Jesus chair." He was very certain that the seat was for Jesus.

Carter Birthday

Carter is 2 today! I can't believe he is so grown up! Here's a picture of him when he was a week and a half to compare to his 2 year old picture. I think that giraffe has shrunk! My mom came up and watched Carter the night I was working since Lance is out of town part of every week this semester for clinicals. The day before his birthday we went swimming out at a local hot springs. Grandma had found a kick board for him so he had lots of fun with that. Here is Carter's birthday cake. He loves watching Finding Nemo right now so I made a fish cake for him. For his birthday dinner we had ravioli. "Sasta" (pasta) is a favorite meal of his, usually. He also had lots of fun during the day with his doggie balloon. My dad came up that evening for his cake and ice cream. Carter was very excited about the little train set they got for him. It was a big hit! Carter loves "choo-choos." Lance's parents gave Carter this fun book that has blocks you can build things along with the story. He doesn't quite get that the blocks actually make pictures but I'm sure he'll get it in time. He loves looking at books and the pictures. Dad is helping show Carter how is tool box works. I love this picture of them at work. I think their faces are so funny! Another train for Carter. Checking out Mister Potato Head. Carter wanted no part of singing happy birthday or blowing out candles. He just wanted to attack the candy on his cake. He didn't eat much of the cake but really liked the m&ms and frosting on top. He also had a couple servings of ice cream. This boy loves ice cream and sweets. It's amazing to remember at his one year old birthday he wouldn't eat any of the cake and didn't usually eat sweets. Carter the next morning with his presents. It was kind of a crazy night, with Lance getting back in town from clinicals, but we had fun. Happy Birthday Carter man!! We sure love you!
