Two Years Gone

So yesterday we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe it's already been two years. It was my turn to plan our anniversary this year (we switch of who plans each year with our anniversary and Valentine's day, it's work very well and as I remember we stole the idea from Keith & Julie. Thanks guys!) So I decided since we'd been having such nice weather that we should go camping. We never really went last summer and I wanted to start the summer out right and actually go instead of saying will go sometime. So we went up to the South Hills, about 30 mins from our home. Which ended up being a very good thing but I'll get into that in a minute. So we found a nice little camp spot by a stream up there and started the fire going for our tin foil dinners and setting the tent up. So I realized as Lance was blowing up the air mattress that I didn't recall seeing our sleeping bags in our box with the the other camping stuff. So I sweetly asked Lance were they were, needless to say we realized they were sitting on a shelf in our back bedroom. As we had nothing to sleep with other than pillows and the clothes we brought we decided I'd make the drive back home to get them after dinner. Other than that the weekend was great, just a little eventful! Saturday morning we went on a hike. We started out on a trail near our camp ground. This picture of Ace shows him trying to get around Lance. We learned he has to be the leader or it drives him crazy! He'll get behind Lance after he stop to smell the flowers or chase the poor rock chucks (we came across two but they got in their holes before Ace got to close). Then he continues to try and squeeze his way past Lance to the front. I found it all very hilarious! It reminded me of Lance when he's driving and trying to pass somebody in lots of traffic, poking out to look forward over and over again and then making a break for it when you have a chance. They are two peas in a pod in many ways!! Ace is such a daddy's boy! The only difference between their passing is that most the time Ace would still end up behind Lance when he'd make the break away to the front. Not because Lance wouldn't let him but just because Ace would go up around on the hill and turn back to the path too soon. It was funny! Anywho, we ended up turning around and going back because that path was wide open with no trees and it was getting pretty hot. So we drove down the road until we reached a trail called Ross Falls. Anything with "falls" in the name sure sounds more promising to me. It ended up being really short but the waterfall was pretty with all the spring run off coming down. Lance is King of the Rock! I'm also posting a video of Ace because our nieces and nephews love seeing "Baby Ace" as Paige calls him. This is just down from the waterfall. Monday after Lance got back from work we were going to go to one of our favorite restaurants here, the Garden Cafe. Highly recommend it to anyone if your in town! Unfortunately we forgot that they're not open for dinner on Monday nights so we went to Pita Pitt instead. It actually worked out better since we were running a little late because we were going to see Prince Caspian at 7:45. The movie was good, better than the first one. Lance liked it a lot better than the first one. I'm not sure yet how I feel about some of the editions they wrote in... Tonight I got put on call for work so we went to Garden Cafe tonight. It was very delicious!!! Then we came home and watched American Idol that I had recorded, go Archy!! So all in all we had a fun celebration of our two years together! I love you Lancey!!!

Stupid sore throats!!

So last week I started out with a sore throat, achey, cough stuff. Lance got it and I got over it. Then Lance got over it. Well last night at work around 3am I discovered much to my chagrin that my throat was hurting again and the aches were back. What's the dealio!?! Didn't I already have you stupid sore throat and get rid of you?!? Hopefully the pattern of going back and forth is not going to continue! So in the mean time I've popped some generic extra strength Tylenol, slept, and gotten plenty of fluids. What a good little patient I am! Hopefully it all helps in time so I can be ready to teach the youth the dance tomorrow night! Although Lance had to deal with his yucky stuff last week at mutual and he was a trooper I might add!

Belated Mother's Day wishes

Even though we called our dear mothers on Sunday and told them how great they are, I thought I'd let you all know how much they mean to us too. Our mothers are so caring, loving, and supportive. What would we do with out you?!? Lance & I both agree we have been blessed with wonderful mothers and mother-in-laws. It's great having a mother-in-law who loves you as one of her own! Thanks to you both for accepting a "new kid" into the family! We truly appreciate all you do for us!! What wonderful mothers you are! We love you mom!

The simple joys of my life

So the library here is part of a network with other libraries in the state, so when you put something on hold it includes you in the list for the entire network. So I put Breaking Dawn on hold, the new Stephenie Meyer book in the Twilight series, and it said I was number 110 on the list. So I asked at the library if they could look to see where I was on the list for just the library here. Sure enough they could and turns out I'm #1 on the list. SWEETNESS!!! So while most of you don't care, I'm very excited that I'll get to have it first! Now I'll just have to wait until August 2nd rolls around.

Grandma Bev's Funeral

We went down Thursday for my Grandma Bev's funeral in SLC. It was a very nice service and most of my extended family were there. Many of my cousins I haven't seen in a long time were there and it was good to get to visit with them and for them to meet Lance. We just love our wonderful family. It was a very nice service with many fond memories of my grandma and grandpa. It was sad at times but it is such a blessing to know that this is not the end and that we will get to be together as a family forever. My grandma had such a strong testimony of this and it was mentioned several times during the funeral. Here's some pictures from the weekend. Lance and I by her casket. I know it was a funeral and all but I couldn't help noticing how handsome Lance looked in his new clothes that I got for him. :) Our family, minus Abby who was taking a break for a nap. It was a long day for a little girl! :) My mom's sisters were also in town and it was fun to get to visit with them for a bit and my grandma. Lance and I both love getting to see them and visiting with them. We're hoping in the next couple years to make trips to see all of them. One of my cousins also got married on Saturday. Before going to the reception we stopped at Thanksgiving Point Gardens with Mike, Marinda, and Abby. It was so beautiful with all of the tulips out. I've never seen so many different colors of tulips! If you've never been there and are in the area, I would highly recommend it!

Possessed Dishwasher

So for those who have already read about our dishwasher woes....it happened again. We got home from UT Sat night and I realized I'd forgotten to start the dishwasher before we left. So I tried to start it. NOTHING!!! SQUAT!!! ZILCH!!! Didn't make a sound or do anything. So we're thinking great now it really is busted. Well this morning I started washing the dishes but I decided to only take a few out at a time, rather than wash all of them like Lance had only then to discover it did want to wash (I'm lazy when it comes to dishes, what can I say?!) So as I was washing the handful of dishes I'd taken out all of a sudden the dishwasher kicks on! What's the deal?!?! It hadn't worked a few minutes before when I'd tried! To start with it hadn't even been completely filled, so that couldn't be the problem. I just can't figure anything out other than or dishwasher is possessed. It seems to only work on weekdays and only after we have called it names and tried over and over again to open and shut it to get it to work. But the real trick seems to be that it likes to be emptied a little and waits to start until you are in the middle of hand washing the dishes. Anybody have any experience with possessed dishwashers? Or any ideas?! Kenmore Ultra Wash III, I sure don't think you're ultra anything!!!!
