Words

I wanted to do a little update, mostly for myself to remember about all the words Carter says. Before I get to that my little boy is growing, growing. Last week I finally resolved his size 4 shoes were getting a little scrunchy on his toes. He is now wearing size 5 shoes, some are still a little big on him. Carter also likes to bang his head on things. He enjoys head butting people, hitting the back of his head against the wall, and hitting the front of his head on the floor or shopping cart handles or other things. I find it a little odd but he just laughs while he's doing it. Carter often seems like he randomly decides to repeat new words he hears us say, like I swear I hear him say "thank-you" sometimes and we've gotten him to say things before like "eat it" but here's a list of the words he consistently says from day to day:

• "Ace" or "Acey" are by far his most frequently said words
• "woof-woof"
• "Da-da" dad
• "mum mum" for mom
• "oooh" he seems to prefer this to the usual uh-oh
• "ba" for ball
• "shs" for both shoes and socks which he loves to find shoes, try and put them on, or bring them to us so we can put them on
• "nana" for bananas which he loves. He threw a huge fit in the grocery store yesterday when he saw me pick up the bananas and he couldn't have one.
• "tis" for this, which he says in reference to a lot of things. He says it when he's pointing to something, when he wants us to turn it on or push the button on it, or when he bringing something to us. Sometimes it also seems like he's saying "yes" but that are really similar
• "Jace" which sounds similar to Ace but has a little bit of a "J" sounds in front. Jace is one of his good buddies.
• His "No" sounds like "dough." Unfortunately he says this more and more and as he says it, it is usually accompanied by a him slapping his hand at the air or furniture. We're not sure where he got the hand slapping with the no because we truly don't hit or slap him or anything when he tell him no. Maybe it's just from the pulling his hand or moving it away from whatever it is he's doing.

I haven't been as consistent with baby sign language like I had planned and he hasn't seemed too interested in them anyway but he will sometimes sign "more" which he just claps his hands or "all done."

Poor Ace

Carter loves his dog. He also loves chasing after his dog. He really loves chasing after his dog with his little car. Carter has the funniest laugh. When he gets going he has this loud laugh that we just can't help but laugh along with him. Here's a video of Carter "chasing" Ace.

The Imporatnce of Naps

Monday Carter did not want to fall asleep during nap time. He spent an hour on and off in his crib kicking it (which he always does), talking, and singing to himself. After around an hour he declared he was done and wanted out by crying. I knew we would be in for a grumpy boy later. I didn't expect what happened though..... Right in the middle of his dinner he fell asleep. He's only falling asleep in his highchair one other time. After Lance and I laughed and snapped a few pictures we took him to bed. Where it took him another hour or so to fall back asleep since both his blankies and little silky cuddle things that he likes were still in the dryer since I didn't expect him to go to bed for another hour. Once he got one of his cuddlies he went back to sleep.

Funny Story

A couple mornings ago I was working on the computer in the kitchen and Carter was in the living room playing with some toys and reading books. Well all of a sudden I heard him munching on something. I turned around to discover our little boy standing up on the couch facing me, with a mouth full of gummy bears. Lance had apparently left his big Costco bag of gummy bears open on the couch. Guess who found them? Carter is like his daddy and loves gummy bears. Whenever Lance start eating them Carter is at his heels begging for some. I'm a little on the paranoid side about him choking and when we do give him gummy bears it's only half of one. Especially not a big mouthful. He knew just what I was going to do when I got up because he started making his protesting noise. I gave him one more form the bag then sealed it up and took it away. I had a sad little boy on my hands for the next little while. Carter has also in the last few days discovered being dizzy. At the sitters the other day they were playing "ring a round the rosie" which I'm thinking is where he got it from. Rather then walking in a circle with us he seems to like just turning in a circle himself. He gets dizzy when he stops, can't walk straight, and usually falls down which leads to him laughing and laughing. He thinks it is the funniest thing. Then Carter gets up and does it again.
