"Baby"
About a month or so ago Carter figured out how to open a tote in his room that has a bunch of old stuffed animals of mine and Lance's. The one he likes dragging around, one of my baby dolls. Carter loves his "baby" as he calls it. If we try to put him to bed without it he gets very distressed over where "baby" is. We practice "nose, eyes, mouth, etc" with her. One day when I was in the shower I heard the toilet seat lift up. I looked around to see Carter had the doll and was trying to put her on the potty. One day when it was quiet I went to see what he was up to. I was very pleasantly surprised to find him in his room reading to "baby."
He gets very concerned if any of her clothes or shoes come off. He brings them over to me so that I can put them back on. He also likes to push her on his car and sometimes hop on for a ride.

Cute things Carter does
Carter does some of the funniest things. For instance when I'm scratching my leg he'll come over with this smile on his face and scratch it too. He recognizes pictures of "grandma and grandpa" both sets and calls them "mam-ma" and "papa" or something like that. He recognizes and says one shape consistently, "star." He's in a faze right now where he loves to wave at everyone. He waves at vehicles driving by, people at the library, and at the store. If people notice him waving and stop to talk to him, he usually blows them a kiss too.

Belated Anniversary Trip
The second weekend in June Lance and I took a belated anniversary trip. We wanted to do something a little more special since it was our 5 year. We went up to Boise for the weekend and stayed at the Anniversary Inn. They had a little special going on so we got a pizza dinner, drinks, and cheesecake with the room. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was quite good pizza. We went to the temple, the last time at the Boise Temple for us before it's closed for over a year for remodeling. We did some shopping, went to a movie, had a yummy lunch at Goodwood BBQ, and just had a nice relaxing weekend. I admit I was excited to get back to Carter, it's amazing how much I miss him when I'm gone! This is the first time both of us have been away from him. My mom was nice enough and watched Carter for us while we were gone. Here's a picture of Lance in our room.
We got home to discover Carter and Grandma had lots of fun at the park and at the store. Grandma got Carter a balloon and some other fun things...see below.
My Mom had brought a few fun things she'd picked up at their neighborhood yard sale including the pop-up firetruck in the picture below. She also found a fun bigger size Tonka truck and a fire engine. Carter has been all about "choo-choos" lately. That's what he calls trains. The Thomas the Train shows are the first kids shows he's really shown much interest in (and of course still loves Wheel of Fortune, still think it's so funny!). When grandma and Carter went to the store Carter promptly spotted all the train items. He ended up getting some p.j.s grandma found on clearance and a book. Carter loves them!!!
Sporting his new p.j.s. Whenever those p.j.s are in his drawer he always picks them out to wear to bed.
It was a nice day Sunday and we spent some time outside throwing the ball (see the action shot) and playing with bubbles. If you ask Carter what bubbles do he'll say "pop, pop, pop." He has a book about bubbles and that's what it says on one of the pages. It's a favorite book in this house.
My sister was passing through and stopped by for a few minutes. It was nice to see her and we sure hope we'll make it down to see her and my niece soon because we miss her!
Side note to this post. I'm wearing my glasses because I was getting over a case of what I assume was pink eye. It was three weeks after Carter's so I don't think I got it from him. Who knows where I picked it up from. I had been wearing my glasses for the last week before this trip just to make sure my eyes had healed up. I had already discovered when I first got it it's a little hard to see out of contacts when you keep getting eye goop junk that get's on your contacts every time you blink. Yuck!

Father's Day
We sure love our daddy (all of them) and appreciate all that they do! I sure love my two handsome boys! For Father's Day I made Lance and Carter matching ties. In my opinion they sure did look cute!

Favorite Moments
I love when Carter does something or says something I don't expect. It makes one of those favorite happy moments of being a mom. Today I was in the kitchen and he pushed a truck he has over in the kitchen by me. He had put a bunch of his animals in the back of the truck and was giving them a ride. Maybe it's just me but I just found it so cute. Of course the camera came out!
Another day, some of the animals found themselves in a plastic bag. He loves playing with the animals.
This picture with his binky reminds me of another story. We are trying to take it away from Carter. As is, he has only been using it during naps and bed time for a long time but we're working on weening him off it. I admit that I have a hard time on the days that I just got off work and my sleep time is during his nap time. He takes longer naps when he has it, so it's harder for me not to give it to him on these days. This boy seems to have a secret stash of them somewhere because we'll turn around and he'll have one in his mouth. The other day I got out of the shower and it was quite. The bedroom doors were closed, so I checked in there, no Carter. I went out to the living room and Carter was lying on the floor with his blankies, binky in mouth. The funny things about this binky, he'd never used it before, it was brand new. It also was in it's packaging, in a closed tote in his room. Apparently he'd found it while I was in the shower and figured out how to rip it out of the packaging. He is really not liking the no more binkies plan!
