Wyoming Weekend

The weekend of May 21st Lance and Carter took a trip up to his parents for his mom's graduation. I had to work that weekend since it was the weekend of the hospital's move into the new hospital so I missed out on the fun. I heard Carter had lots of fun with his cousins. Carter and his two cousins, all within 7 weeks old of each other. It is really hard these days to try and get pictures of the three of them holding still! We are so proud of Lynn/mom/grandma!! She's been working long and hard on this and we couldn't be prouder! We are also glad that when she comes on trips to see us she won't have to worry about doing homework while she's on vacation. Carter's excited he'll just get her all to himself! :) This isn't the best picture but here's grandma with most of her grandkids.

"Carter"

Today Carter said his name for the first time. It is super cute! It comes out more like"car-car" or "car-ca." I tried getting a video of it but he of course wouldn't do it once the camera was out. Hopefully I will get it sometime because I love hearing him say it! He also said for the first time yesterday "poopy" when we were busy changing a big blow-out diaper. We love hearing all his new words he's starting to say.

5 Years

I feel so lucky to be married to this great guy for five years! He's the best husband I could ever have! We celebrated a day early since I was scheduled to work the night of our anniversary (I ended up being put on-call so we had that night also to celebrate a little). When Lance got home from work he took us down to see the falls. There is a ton of water going over them right now and it is amazing. It felt like it was raining there was so much spray coming up from them. Carter enjoyed watching them. He also kept trying to step up on the bottom part of the fence, which he wasn't very happy I wouldn't let him do. Lance made a yummy pasta dish for dinner. It was a chicken alfredo with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and gorgonzol cheese. I had him take a picture just so I would have proof that he can cook delicious food too! He also surprised me with pretty flowers. I was excited about the surprise flowers. I love you Lancey!!!

Pink Eye Update

Carter's eye was pretty much cleared up by later afternoon on Monday. I was a little nervous about tackling Carter's eye drops on my own. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Carter just laid down and didn't fight me, other than clamping his eyes closed as tight as he could. Towards the middle of the week he even would get a big smile on his face and start clapping when his drops were in. Over the weekend I had been really playing up the praises when we got the drops in. Apparently he'd picked up on it. He would still clamp his eyes shut a little but it was very easy to put them in. He even got to the point when we'd put him on his changing station he'd grab the bottle of eye drops and start saying "eyes." We thought it was the cutest thing so we got it on video.

Pink Eye

Thursday afternoon Carter started getting some gross yellow drainage from his left eye. I immediately thought we had a case of pink eye. First time Carter has ever had it. In the morning however it didn't seem that bad so I didn't call the doctor that morning. This nasty bug proved me wrong when Carter got up from his nap. His left eye was crusty and goopy. So I called the doctor and we got him in that night and left with prescription eye drops to use for the next week. Carter fought and fought putting the eye drops in. It takes Lance and I to hold him while the other person pries open his eye and puts the drops in. The whole time he cries and cries like we're torturing him or something. This should be a fun next week with putting drops in 3 times a day. I didn't get the best picture of his eye. It usually looked much grosser.

Mother's Day

I feel so blessed to be a mom to such a wonderful boy like Carter. He is such a joy in our life and I can't imagine not having him. He has grown so big. He is constantly doing little things that make us laugh and discovering new things he can do. He is really starting to repeat different words he hears us saying and I love hearing his cute little words and phrases. I just love him to pieces and nothing makes me happier than when he calls me mom or gives me hugs. He still hasn't figured out how to give kisses and still when we ask for them just blows kisses or puts his hand up to our mouth for us to blow a kiss. Cute in it's own way. I sure love being your mom Carter! Mother's Day weekend was also the weekend of the tour for our brand new hospital. My parents and Lance's parents came up for the weekend for a visit and to come see where I'd be working. It was really fun to have them all there! Here's a picture with one of my friends from work with our new nurses desk behind us. When my parents, Lance, and Carter got up to the NICU part of their group tour, I was giving my little spiel about our new NICU to the group when Carter realized it was mommy who was talking. He came walking up through the group right too me. The other people in the group were a little surprised at how friendly he was, until they found out he was my kid. Here's a picture with Carter and I infront of one of the new rooms. They're all individual rooms that are tons bigger than our old unit! It's going to be nice! Carter loved having all his grandparents here. We sure love Lance's parents and are especially grateful to have such a wonderful and loving mom and grandma. I love his face in this picture. My parents had headed home Saturday. On Sunday we went up to Lance's sister's house for a nice dinner with his parents and his other sister and her family. I had decided since we'd be over half way to my parents house Carter and I would continue on and go and surprise my mom for Mother's day and spent a few nights up there. My dad knew we were coming but my mom had no idea. It was really fun when we got there because they were in another room and didn't know we had gotten there. Carter walked over to the door and pushed it open. My mom was so surprised and excited! The next day we took a trip out to the local dairy. I always love getting their chocolate milk when I'm there, best chocolate milk ever! We took Carter around to see the baby calves. He was excited to watch them and was upset when it was time to leave, it was a rainy and cold day. This boy loves being outside and he doesn't care how cold or yucky the weather is. Carter had lots of fun with the old Fisher Price Train and mom's shoes. He always loves playing in the lockers at my parents house. He kept opening them and saying "boo" or "see you." He even tried closing himself in one of the lockers that was full of stuff. I climbed in one time with him and after that he kept shutting me in. When I'd get out he'd grab my hand and take me back over into the locker. He is such a funny boy! This weekend Carter also started saying grandpa, sounding more like "bam-pa." We sure love my parents. I'm especially glad to have such an amazing mother who is so caring and loving. She is always willing to help us out whenever she can and I love being able to call and talk to her whenever I need to.
