Happy Halloween
Carter wants to wish you all a Happy Halloween! Here's the little ghost card we made for his Grandparents.
Here is the previously mentioned Halloween onesie. We sure do think he's the cutest pumpkin!
Here's Carter with a couple of his cousins - the very pretty bat and the sleeping froggy.
Here's our little dragon with the now awake froggy. These two are just 7 weeks apart.
After the last picture our little dragon fell asleep, just like that. I guess he'd had a busy couple days or something.
The cute little sleeping dragon. He has a big day tomorrow, it's his blessing day, so we hope he gets plenty of sleep tonight!
Correction: Later in the night when I was up with Carter I got to wondering what exactly his costume was suppose to be. We had come up with that it could be a dragon, a dinosaur, and some other various reptiles. So I was curious and decided to look up online what it was "designed" to be. I discovered that we weren't the only ones confused. Some stores called it a "dino" others a "monster" and others combined the two into a "dino monster." So I guess we can just take our pick when he gets older and asks what he was for Halloween.

Trip to Grandma & Grandpa's
Carter and I made a trip to my parents while Lance was busy with school. It had been a while since they'd seen Carter so I thought we'd get a visit in while I'm still on maternity leave.
Carter was smiling so my dad got his camera to take some pictures. My dad's camera has this green light that comes on and this is the face Carter pulled when he saw it. He was fascinated by the light and watched the camera, waiting to see it again. It was pretty funny.
Grandma & Grandpa with Carter.
We were able to get some smiles even with the green light fascination.
I was able to meet up with a couple of my old roomies while we were there. Here's Shar and I don't have the picture of Carter and I with Rach and her little girl. (Make sure and send it to me Rach!) It seemed like a short little trip but it is always fun to see Grandparents and friends. I really loved that Carter slept the whole time in the car. He usually does so good when traveling. We really have a great baby! Speaking of, the last week or so Carter has been sleeping 7+ hours every other night (the other nights it was still 3-4 hours). It appears he was working himself into sleeping through the night because the last three nights he has slept for 7-9 hours. Yeah! I love getting sleep again! Hopefully he keeps it up for the most part.

Our Little Boy Laughing
So today when Lance was getting Carter to smile he started laughing. Not any big rolling laughter by any means but some cute first chuckles. He even kept doing it after I got the camera. Usually he stops doing whatever we're trying to capture once the camera comes out.

I just love taking pictures of my boy
We finally got a good smile on camera.
I love this little outfit of his and it has been warm enough the last couple of days I put him in it without long pants over the shorts.
He has really been enjoying his tummy time. He just looks at everything and stretches his neck up. He's taking a little breaking from stretching in this picture.
Funny Picture for the day
Can you believe it?! A post not about Carter! Lance made the comment last night when he was looking at my recent posts that Carter has taken over our blog. I personally think he's the most interesting and cutest thing in our life now so why wouldn't he?! It's just natural! :) However I got this picture in an email from our Infection Prevention Nurse (how do you like that title) at work and thought I would share. Lance and I thought it was pretty funny. This picture is titled "Swine flu paranoia getting out of hand!!"
I guess to make this post something related to Carter, please remember to be vigilant about washing your hands and staying home if you are sick so our little boy doesn't get sick. :)

First trip out of state
This past weekend we took a trip up to my in-laws place in Wyoming. There were a few reasons for the trip, of course to go see them and Lance's brother and his family who live there too but we also went because Lance was going to pour their concrete counter tops. They are going to look a lot better once they're all dry....whatever the fancy word is Lance uses for that but here's a picture of what they look like now. We keep them sprayed to stay wet and covered with plastic so they don't dry too fast. It'll be about a month until they're ready to use, so I'll post pictures when it's all done. For those who have never seen or heard of concrete counter tops you can check out what they look like here. The thing I think is so cool about them is you can cut on them just like a cutting board and it doesn't do anything to the counter!
Here's a picture with Lance and his baby and my FIL and his baby. :) She is one spoiled dog!
I love this cute sweater! At least this week at church he only managed to spit up a little bit on it instead of spill out the other end like last time.

Growing Big
A friend of ours took some great pictures for us! There are tons of cute ones (in our unbiased opinion) and we're having a hard time picking favorites. Here are a few of them. You can also see some more on her photo blog here. If you need some photos done, you should give her a call.
Carter has been starting to smile at us. This is as close as we could get him to do on camera.
There's his Carter eyebrows.
He's getting so good at holding his head up.
Love his eyes in this one!
Love his face!
I had to go up to work for a few things yesterday and decided to weigh Carter while we were there. We have been noticing him feeling heavier and looking bigger but he still fits in all his newborn clothes so I was a little surprised by what the scale said. Our big boy is up to 10 lbs now. We can't believe it!!!

Favor to ask
So I kept forgetting about this except at inopportune moments. I wanted to have those of you in the area who get the newspaper keep your eyes peeled for Carter's birth announcement. The strange things is, I was looking at the papers website in their archives and he has never been put in yet. The "stork report" that was printed on Sunday September 20th has another birth from September 1st as well as the others the beginning of September but Carter's is not there. I don't know if the paperwork somehow got lost or what. I know it must have left the hospital because the paperwork to sign to release the info to the newspaper also releases the info to the state immunization tracking program and I've gotten a letter from them. So hopefully it will turn up at some point...maybe. More likely it would be just my luck that the newspaper somehow lost ours. We shall see I guess. So those of you around here, if you see his announcement in the paper please save it for us. Thanks for your help!
10/08/09 Addendum:
I got a hold of the paper, found out what day he was in, and picked up a copy of it today. Thanks to Jill and Marinda for suggesting to do this.

Some cute pictures from the week
One Month Old
I can't believe it has already been a month! It doesn't seem like "just yesterday", it feels like it's been a while but not a month already (if that makes any sense). Technically he was 4 weeks on Tuesday bit I'm just sticking with counting the 1st of each month because that's easier. According to my measurement Carter is up to 22inches. At his doctors appointment last Weds he was 8lbs 2oz. He is very alert when he is awake and loves flipping his head from one side to the other looking at everything. He is doing very well with holding his head up and working on getting those neck muscles stronger and stronger. He gets bored after sitting in one spot for to long and he lets you know it. We just can't get over how much he loves looking at everything. He still loves his baths and doesn't scream through diaper changes anymore unless he's really hungry. He still wakes up about every 3 hours through the night, occasionally longer or shorter. He has been doing better with his reflux since we started his medicine and we like that it doesn't irritate and hurt him anymore. His eyes are still a pretty blue and he still has his long brown hair. We have loved having him our life!!
He wasn't too happy the first time I tried taking his monthly picture.
A happier boy this time around. He looks so tiny in the chair!
A close up shot.
