St. George Vacation

August was the month that Lance had off from school so I took a few days off work so we could go down to St. George to my parents. On the way down we stopped to see my sweet grandma. This was probably the last time we got to see her since she's not doing very well now. The weather was nice and hot! A little too hot during the heat of the day. It was a nice trip and a lot of the time we just relaxed. Lance and I caught a movie. We went to see Little Mermaid at Tuacahn one night, which was fabulous! We made a few trips to the park by their house with the splash pad. Sunday after church we went down to the temple grounds. Is this just the cutest boy you have ever seen? Hard to imagine that he can ever be grumpy. The next morning my mom watched Carter while Lance and I went to the temple and then to lunch. It was nice to have a little date together! The last time we did a session at the St. George temple was on our honeymoon. After the temple on Sunday we went around to some of the other church sites. Here is Carter checking out the outside of Brigham Young's House. We also enjoyed going to the rec center's swimming pool on one of the days. Carter enjoyed going down the little slides but was not too excited when the water buckets would dump down. He watched mom and dad go down the big slide and acted like he wanted to go down too. He'll have to wait a few years for that one. Carter had fun on the red rocks on his terms. He did not want to sit in the holes for pictures. He did like climbing them. He also liked the edge and kept trying to escape our grasp to get a closer look. Not wanting to see how close he'd get, with horrible thoughts of him falling down below if he got away, we kept a tight hold of him and didn't spend to long at those heights. Back down on the ground he was free to walk around to his hearts content. He had lots of fun kicking and throwing the red rocks. We also went to the splash park in downtown St. George. It was really fun but definitely more crowded. Carter had fun climbing on the water fall. And walking around on the rocks. Down by the splash park there is this beautiful (and very nicely priced) carousel. This was the first time Carter had ever been on one. Before it started he started to get bored and want to get down. Once it started going he wasn't sure about it at first. After a couple spins around he had decided it was one of the best things ever and loved riding on his "horsey." We spent the night in SLC on our way home. We stopped to see my grandpa. Carter had fun throwing the ball back and forth with him. My aunt and uncle were nice enough to let us stay at their house. They have the old swing set that use to be at my paternal grandparents house. I played on this all the time when I was a kid. Carter enjoyed the swing too. The next morning before we headed home we met up with my sister-in law Marinda and her kids. Carter instantly took to Abby. I don't know if it's because Abby is so easy to say or if he could just tell how awesome she is. He wanted to sit next to Abby for breakfast and ever time she got up to get something he would call after her "Abby, Abby" until she came back. He kept holding her hand when we went on a walk. Abby didn't like that he just kept trying to hold one of her fingers and not her hold hand. He's not use to having someone his size that he can actually hold their hold hand. He still talks about Abby here and there. When he talks on the phone lots of times he'll start saying things about Abby. He loves seeing pictures of her! All ready for our walk. Grandpa found a little fort for the kids. Then we went back and played on the play ground. It was nice to get to see some more of our family for a few hours. We wish we would've been able to stay longer.
